Description
This European
platform bed is named Sankaku which means triangle in Japanese.
First take three triangles to make an equilateral triangle.
And then put six equilateral triangles together to form a
hexagon, and you have a perfect hemp leaf pattern. This pattern is widely used in Japan and some examples are
screens, lamp shades, ladies hand bags, and kimonos.
There 381 triangles which form 127 equilateral triangles.
The pattern
changes, depending upon what your eyes focus in on. Also has you
move around and view the headboard from different angles the pattern
changes with your perspective. I
have seen triangles, diamonds, stars, squares, and hexagon patterns
in this headboard.
Woods
The triangles
are make from Sycamore and the pattern of that wood is called
fiddleback or curly. Makore
or African Cherry is the inlay and solid wood.
