Joinery:
Hand cut dovetails throughout the piece. Sliding dovetails on the drawer dividers and drawer bottom supports. Mortise and tenon joinery on side panels.
Wood & Materials:
Bubinga is the solid and veneer wood. The spaded foot is dyed ebonized. The drawer cock bead it maple ebonized, and the drawers are solid maple. The through dove tails on the drawer also have real ebony as a accent wood.
Unusual Techniques & Hardware:
The side drawers are low profile trays. Because of the curves involved I had to hand cut the shoulders for the sides of the drawers/trays. The side drawers are operated by a touch switch. When a person pushes and releases the drawer it pops out.
Size:
Overall size is 4 feet wide, 30 inches high, and a maximum of 2 feet deep.
