I had this beautify ribbon Sapele that I wanted to make a table from.  My first area I approached was the chair design.  The seat has a slight curve to it, but this design can be changed.  A blank can be covered with any upholstery the customer desires.

Next I had to produce a pattern on the top using the ribbon of the wood taking into account that I wanted a leaf for the table.  The leaf is stored in the table.

You can see 'negative spaces' in the chair design.  The back rail has a space between it and the seat.  The other spaces are the back support and stretchers connecting the legs.

Dimensions:

 Height 30", width 38",  length with leaf 72" without leaf 52".   This configuration can comfortably seat six.

The chair's overall dimensions are height 35", width 18 ½", and depth 18 inches.
