Joinery:
All joints are mortise and tenon, and because the grain is meeting in the wrong directions I have used screws as a safety for added holding power which are concealed with plugs.
Wood & Materials:
Walnut is pictured, but other woods are available such as Cherry, Rosewood, and Figured Bubinga.
Finish:
I used an oil finish that adds depth to the wood grain. However, Oil does not repel water so this finish is only good for dry materials like quilts and blankets. I sand between coats using 600 grit sandpaper to provide a smooth finish that will not damage your blankets.
Unusual Techniques & Hardware:
My goal was to create a quilt rack that has clean simple lines that do not over power the quilt that is displayed.
