My brother Ray passed away and I wanted to honor him
by creating an Urn for his ashes. Ray was a avid outdoorsman,
and he assented over 148 distinct peaks in WA state.
The process:
I first took a photo of Mt. Rainer from Sunrise
which is at the bottom of the page.
Next I draw in the glaciers and assign them
different woods such as Holly, Maple, and Sycamore. For
the sky I used dyed Birdseye maple.
Notice as your perspective changes the light reflect
off the wood at distinct angles. Thus different glaciers
are highlighted when you view the box from the right or left side.
The legs and frame are made from ebony, and the flat
surfaces is Clairo Walnut. The lid is 8 quarter book matched to
obtain the figure.

create a custom box for you or your loved one.
